The San Francisco Center for the Book is mounting an extensive show of my work starting on October 22, 2022 and running through January 8th of next year.
This is a big show with around forty manuscript books spanning the past fifty years along with a number of drawings and prints. SFCB is also showing some of my most recent prints and books and will offer a 100 page catalog of the show.
In their announcement, exhibition curator Jennie Hinchcliff observes:
For those arriving at Timothy Ely’s work for the first time, the experience can only be remarkable: visually, materially, and conceptually. There is an undeniable sense of the artist’s reverence for materials, structure, and the history of the book imbued within each volume, print, and drawing. San Francisco Center for the Book is honored to exhibit such a large number of Timothy Ely’s works together for the first time and share his work with a wider audience.
I will be in San Francisco for the opening reception on Friday, October 28th at 6 pm and would love to meet readers of this blog in person. You can register for the reception at the home page for the show.
The show was curated by Jennie Hinchcliff who is the SFCB Exhibitions and Events Manager. It runs:
Saturday, October 22, 2022 – Sunday, January 8, 2023
The web page for the San Francisco Center for the Book can be found here.
Hope you are able to attend. Enjoy the show!
